The program featured an extended presentation of the singular Globe Unity Orchestra, the large improvising ensemble spearheaded by pianist Alexander von Schlippenbach. The program prepared us for the 9/20 appearance of Globe Unity in Upper Manhattan as the opening concert in the Columbia-Harlem Festival of Global Jazz.
I don't quite remember which records were played and in which order, but email us and we can do some digging if you need. I promise to take better notes next time.

Afternoon New Music 9/3/07
John Cage would have been celebrating his ninety-fifth birthday on September 5th. We began to celebrate a bit early by playing lots of his earliest compositions. We got inspired, dug through the library, and played things ranging from etudes and excercises written in Los Angeles in the '30s, and ended somewhere in the middle of a prepared piano!
The playlist is lost to radio's ephemerality and the host's poor memory.
